inanerant

This month's inane rant is about a simple lawn sprinkler. A lawn sprinkler that came in at about $37.00. After less than ten runs, it is now leaking and spraying water from the hose connection. It wasn't run over, kicked, stepped on or dropped from the roof. Now, for $37.00, I'm thinking it should be durable enough to last a few years, right? They say you get what you pay for. Well...I know what I got...

DESIGNINGtip - Process

Back in Feruarby 2009, I discussed how important it is to have a Process in place before beginning a desing project. Basically, it was about clearly defining the steps you (and your client) will take to complete a project.

There's another Process that should be discussed, and that's the Creative Process. Where do the ideas come from? Every creative person has been faced with a blank piece of paper, or a blank screen and absolutely no ideas. Some people walk away to clear thier heads, some people meditate, and some people stare until the screen or page morphs into something outside the realm of explanation.

Some people write down lists of words related to the project, or they look at relative images hoping to trigger an idea. There's no right or wrong way to generate ideas, but if you have a specific process that works for you and you do it again and again, it becomes a valuable skill.

Would love to hear what your creative process is!
