Hanged or Hung?

Ok, once in a while the word "hanged" is used instead of "hung". Is there a difference?

One thing you'll never see or hear is "sanged" being used instead of "sung".

And why not? If "hanged" works the same as "hung", then "sanged" should work just fine for "sung". Right?
